The procedure is to install the intermediate cable to the vehicle, connect the intermediate park brake cable to the front and rear park brake cables for passenger and cargo vehicles, and the intermediate cable from the front and rear park brake cables, passing it through the cable guide for cutaway vehicles, remove the safety stands and lower the vehicle, enable the park brake cable automatic adjuster, and then adjust the park brake system.

Q: What is the removal procedure for the parking brake rear cable-right side?
A:
The procedure is to release the parking brake, disable the park brake cable, and automatic adjuster, raise and support the vehicle, disconnect the cable at the equalizer, remove the cable from the rear cross-member by depressing the locking tabs for cargo and passenger vehicles, and the cable from the mounting bracket by depressing the locking tabs for cutaway vehicles only, pass the cable through the cable guides on the frame, disconnect the rear axle vent hose clip from the cable (1500 Series), open the rear axle clip, and then remove the cable from the differential clip, the bolt retaining the cable to the lower shock mount, the cable from the backing plate, the parking brake cable from the lever and the cable from the vehicle.

Q: How do you disable the parking brake cable adjuster?
A:
You can raise and support the vehicle, hold the pedal in the full upward position, pull rearward on the front park brake cable until the pedal drum reaches its full reset position, insert a scribe or the shaft of a thin screwdriver on an upward angle through the hole in the front of the pedal assembly, past the retracted pedal drum, and into the hole in the back of the pedal assembly, slowly release the cable, and then remove the component that requires service.

A:
You need to release the parking brake, remove the park brake pedal, roll the carpet back to access the cable anchor nut and grommet, remove the cable anchor nut, remove the cable and grommet from the floor, raise and support the vehicle, disconnect the front cable from the intermediate cable, and then remove the cable from the frame bracket by depressing the retaining tabs and the cable.
