2010 GMC Canyon Brake Shoe Set

You are recommended to compress the springs inward and rotate the cups 1/4 turn.

You need to remove the brake drum, the brake shoe adjuster spring, and the brake shoe adjuster lever, and you need to carefully spread the top of the brake shoes away from the wheel cylinder and remove the brake shoe adjuster assembly. Then you need to remove the brake shoe hold-down springs and cups, and rotate the forward brake shoe toward the rear axle flange. After that, you need to remove the brake shoe lower retaining spring, the forward brake shoe, and the brake shoe upper return spring, and you need to release the park brake cable fitting from the brake shoe park brake apply lever. Finally, you need to remove the rear brake shoe and park brake lever assembly, then you can remove the park brake lever from the brake shoe.
