Then you need to remove the transmission filler tube bracket nut from the AIR adapter and position it aside if your vehicle is equipped with M30, and you need to remove the heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) from the exhaust manifold. Finally, you need to remove the 3 nuts securing the heat shield to the exhaust manifold, then you can remove the exhaust manifold heat shield from the exhaust manifold.

Q: How to install the Exhaust Manifold Heat Shield?
A:
You need to position the exhaust manifold heat shield to the exhaust manifold, and apply anti-seize GM P/N 12371386 (Canadian P/N 993128) to the exhaust manifold heat shield nuts. Then you need to install the exhaust manifold heat shield nuts and install the HO2S to the exhaust manifold. After that, you need to position the transmission filler tube to the A.I.R. adapter if previously removed, and you need to install the transmission filler tube bracket nut. Finally, you need to install the air cleaner assembly and the air cleaner outlet duct.
