You can close the liftgate onto the striker, note if the liftgate drags on the striker, mark around the striker with a grease pencil, loosen striker bolts, move the striker to eliminate drag on the striker and liftgate latch and achieve proper liftgate position within the liftgate opening, align the left/right liftgate position, position the striker to achieve proper alignment to liftgate opening, align the in/out adjustment for proper liftgate seal engagement, verify correct alignment of the striker and tighten striker bolts.
