FAQ for Trunk Lid Lift Support Repair

Q: What is the proper way to install a trunk assist rod?
A:
The new trunk strut will need to be pushed onto the rod so the clip can be fully seated and not pop out of place.

Q: What is the proper way to remove a trunk assist rod?
A:
Provide alternate support to the side of the hood latch/hinge where the assist rod is being removed so the trunk does not fall or cause damage to the vehicle. The trunk assist rod is removed by removing the metal clips at the end of each rod holding it in place. Once the clips are removed you must unhook the assist rod from the stud.
