FAQ for Alloy Wheels Repair

Q: What causes air to leak out of a tire slowly?
A:
Air leaking from a tire is caused by many factors such as particles getting in between the tire and the wheel where the bead seats. Another factor for leaking tires is corrosion on the wheel itself which is causing surface imperfections allowing air to be leaking.

Q: What is the proper way to fix the air leaking from the wheel/tire caused by corrosion?
A:
Awater dunk tank leak test will need to be performed so you can determine where the leak is coming from, whether from the tire or the wheel itself. Once the affected area is found, you will need to sand the corrosion down until you get to material that is stable enough to finish correctly patching the wheel. After correctly patching the area, you will need to add sealant so that it fills the resurfaced bead.

Q: Why is it important to maintain the proper tire pressure?
A:
Having lower tire pressure or too much tire pressure can cause uneven wear on the tires and lower tread life. If the tired have the amount they should have they provide a smoother ride as they have the proper inflation for the tires to support the load imposed by the vehicle.
