FAQ for Hood Release Cable Repair

Q: What parts need to be removed to replace the latch handle?
A:
To replace the latch cable, you will need to remove the driver's knee panel and the battery tray. Once those are removed you will need to disconnect the cable from the handle and remove the cable from the back of the latch which will release the handle so it can be replaced.

Q: What is the easiest way to install a new latch cable?
A:
Insert the new cable through the grommet on the firewall, install it onto the handle and tighten it into place using the 2 fasteners that were removed from the handle during removal. Install the cable on the back side of the latch by pushing it into the retainers. Make sure to tighten the latch bolts to 89 in/lbs. Re-install the knee bolster, side trim panel, and hush panel.
