13/11/2020Q: How do you ensure that the pipe flares remain fully seated to each other while clamping?
A:
To ensure that the pipe flares remain fully seated while clamping you must do the following: Remove and discard the exhaust band clamp, install and position a new exhaust band clamp to the pipe joint, firmly push and maintain the pipes together while tightening, confirm that the clamp edges are fully seated on the pipe, run the engine and inspect the clamp to ensure no leaks.

A:
Raise and support the vehicle, mark the position of the heat shield and straps, cut and remove the heat shield straps, position the heat shield to the muffler and install new heat shield straps on the muffler shell in the positions marked, position the strap screw heads and cut off excess strap material.
