When servicing the filter parts on your A4 Allroad, you should pry open the housing (if equipped) and remove the old unit, reposition the new air filter parts making sure the top is facing the top and the bottom is facing the engine, then reconnect the pins on the air filter box or reattach the wingnut (carbureted engines), finally reconnect all hoses and connections going to housing.
