About Peugeot 505
The Peugeot 505 was a large family car that was manufactured and marketed by the French automotive manufacturer Peugeot. The production of the model started in 1979 and was discontinued in 1992. The assembly lines for the 505 were in Sochaux, France. The vehicle was also produced in various other countries with different names and editions. The 505 was the company's last rear-wheel-drive automobile. It was introduced to the public as the successor of the 504. This made the 505 share many parts and accessories with its predecessor. The styling of the car was similar to the smaller 305 models. It was originally offered with 2 different body styles, a 4-door sedan, and a 5-door estate. A Familiale version, that could have 8 passengers, was introduced at the 1982 Geneva Motor Show.
The Peugeot 505 was known for its riding experience and handling. It had a great performance on rough and unmade roads. This could probably be the reason to explain its popularity in less developed countries and its honor of being the "Work Horse" in the African market. The Peugeot 505 also had good ground clearance. A taller four-wheel-drive system was offered for the 505 Break or Familiale versions if the height wasn't enough. The powering system was originally given a diesel and 2 petrol engines as options. Customers could choose from an intercooler 2.3L turbodiesel that could produce 110 horsepower, a 2.0L petrol with parts like an overhead camshaft with a carburetor that could offer 96 horsepower together, and a 2.0L petrol with extra parts like a Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection that was available for 110 horsepower. These engines were paired with other powering parts including a 5-speed gearbox. The transmission was either from the Citroen CX Athena series or the Renault R20 TS series.

The Peugeot 505 received a facelift in 1986. The model was given a brand new design for its interior parts and accessories. The engine performance was also lifted to 180 horsepower. A Turbo estate version was offered as a North American special in 1995. It received a 5-speed manual transmission as one of its standard parts. The Peugeot 505 was considered to be one of the last Peugeot vehicles to be sold in the United States. The production for the sedan models ended in 1990 and the wagons stopped in 1991.
