You need to raise and support the vehicle, remove the front tire and wheel assembly and the cotter pin and the castle nut from the outer tie rod, separate the outer tie rod from the knuckle, place a match mark, using paint, on the inner tie rod thread and the tie rod lock nut, loosen the tie rod lock nut, and remove the outer tie rod from the inner tie rod.
