When installing a new lock cylinder, you should apply GM P/N 12345120 lubricant or a similar lubricant to the inside of the lock case and the cylinder keyway.

You need to remove the trim pane, the water deflector, the outside handle rod from the rod clip, and the lock cylinder rod from the rod clip. You also need to apply masking tape. Remove the outside handle mounting nuts, the rubber cover, and the door-lock cylinder from the outside handle housing and the handle.
