Q: How to install the Steering Wheel Position Sensor or Steering Shaft Lower Bearing?
A:
If the sensor is not present, you should install the sensor retainer and the steering shaft seal. If the sensor is present, you should install the sensor assembly, the sensor locator, the boot seal, the steering shaft assembly, the tilt head assembly, and the steering shaft into the steering column jacket assembly, lubricate the pivot pins with GM P/N 12346293 (Canadian P/N 992723), install the 2 pivot pins onto the steering column support assembly, the tilt spring assembly, the turn signal switch housing and the steering column to the vehicle and enable the supplemental inflatable restraint system.

Q: How to remove the Steering Wheel Position Sensor?
A:
You should identify the type of steering wheel position sensor from the illustrations shown before removing the sensor from the steering column, verify the type of steering wheel position sensor, and note that from the technicians' point of view, the front of the sensor connector will be on the right, remove the connector from the sensor and the sensor from the adapter and bearing assembly, make an alignment mark on the flush rotor flange cuff and remove the sensor clip from the sensor.
