Q: What is the proper way to install the Front End Upper Tie Bar?
A:
You can drill 8 mm (5/16 in) plug weld holes in the service part, prepare all mating surfaces, apply GM-approved Weld-Thru Coating or equivalent to all mating surfaces, position the tie bar assembly to the vehicle, plug weld, clean and prepare all welded surfaces, apply the sealers and anti-corrosion materials to the repair area, paint the repair area, install all related panels and components, connect the negative battery cable and enable the SIR system.

Q: How do you replace the Front End Upper Tie Bar?
A:
You can disable the supplemental inflatable restraint (SIR) system, disconnect the negative battery cable, remove all related panels and components, repair as much of the damage as possible to factory specifications, note the location, remove the sealers and anti-corrosion materials, locate and drill out all factory welds and remove the damaged tie bar assembly.
