The clutch is an important system since it controls the transfer of power from the engine to the transmission. The clutch kit includes a clutch disc and a clutch pressure plate, and other kits include the release bearing, clutch alignment tools, and the flywheel.
Clutch conceptThese components are crucial to the clutch system, like the flywheel which contains rotational energy and the power delivery is smoothened out. When driving a manual transmission vehicle the clutch gives the user the power to switch gears. While the clutch disc is a friction material that is on both sides of the flywheel and pressure plate.
Also, the disc friction material grips the flywheel and pressure plate and spins at engine speed causing the application of power to the input shaft and driveline. And to generate heat and wear there must be constant disengagement and engagement of friction. The material on the clutch disc will eventually wear out and the surfaces of the flywheel and pressure plate will become dull.
