The exhaust gas recirculation (EGR vacuum solenoid is a significant part of the EGR system. It opens up and lets exhaust gases return to the intake manifold which helps reduce emissions.
EGR vacuum control solenoid principlesThe EGR vacuum control solenoid controls the EGR valve with the engine vacuum. To reduce emissions the EGR valve opens to allow exhaust gas back into the intake manifold to be ignited again. The valve can't be opened the entire time, so it needs the EGR vacuum control solenoid to decide when to open.
EGR vacuum solenoid functionThe EGR vacuum solenoid will be notified by the engine control module when to open or shut the valve. It all depends on the vehicle when the vacuum is permitted to flow so that the exhaust can pass through the valve.
Common issues with a faulty EGR vacuum solenoidA faulty EGR vacuum solenoid can cause the vehicle to decline in performance, poor fuel economy, and an increase in emission.
