The in-line filter assists in trapping the dirt or debris that may cause corrosion so that oil can travel to the AC compressor easily.

In-line filter operation

The In-line filter has the task of keeping any debris from causing corrosion, restricting the expansion valve. The restriction can cause oil to stop traveling to the compressor. The in-line filter must be in good working order and free of any contaminants to avoid clogging the filter which can cause extra pressure to build up.
