The track bar is vital because the coil spring suspension system relies on this component to provide stability. The track bar is made from rigid metal or plastic, connecting the axle to the vehicle's frame.
Track bar conceptThe Panhard rod or track rod is a suspension attachment that provides lateral placement of the axle. The track rod stops any side-to-side movement, it is a device that is made up of a rigid bar that runs sideways at the same level as the axle—the bar links on either end with pivots that only allow it to move in the vertical plane. The track bar does not locate the axle longitudinally, so it is connected with trailing arms to allow the axle to be stable in the longitudinal direction.
Common issues with a faulty track barA faulty track bar can cause vibration in the steering wheel, loose handling, and wobbling.
